On this day 13 years ago, Zankel Hall opened its doors for the first time in a three-week festival of more than 20 concerts, showcasing a variety of attractions from all over the world. In addition to eight events curated by composer John Adams, the festival also included Youssou N'Dour, Arab and Judeo Andalusian Music of Morocco, jazz singer Dianne Reeves, actor Anna Deavere Smith, and Pierre Boulez with the Ensemble InterContemporain. The last event was this recorded "Evening of Latin American Music" with Yo-Yo Ma, Sergio and Odair Assad, Rosa Passos, Cyro Baptista, Kathryn Stott, Nilson Matta, and Paquito D'Rivera.
